Winter Haiku
I got up early this morning, Christmas Eve, and drove north to Carvins Cove. Having seen this poetic little cluster of grasses in the lake a few days prior, and being presented with the rare combination of a day off work and the conditions I was waiting for, I couldn’t resist.
This scene represents exactly what I am always striving for in my work, and in my life. Simple beauty found in the chaos, a peaceful moment to be still, to be alone, to notice that it is the small things that are lovely, and to recognize that nature is a healing force and a balm for the soul.
I do find a bit of the Asian aesthetic in this pared down scene, so I wrote a haiku to go along with it. Merry Christmas, my friends.
