Beach Break for a Visual Palate Cleanse...
My boyfriend and I recently visited the Outer Banks of North Carolina - after so much time spent so close to home, we were hankering after a change of scenery, and a change of pace. An AirBnB in Kitty Hawk seemed far enough away to be different, but also close enough to be accessible by car. And we would be able to social distance still by being there off-season and self-catering. We landed on this completely adorable place called The Saltwood Cottage, a tiny beach cottage located in the maritime woods of Kitty Hawk, complete with private outdoor amenities and an outdoor bathtub! It was gorgeous, and we would highly recommend!
We also approached the trip as a sort of visual palate cleanse - the beach is the antithesis of the mountains in many ways. The topography is flat, the scenes are simple, light, and bright, and locations are more readily accessible at the coast. In the mountains, there is plenty of visual chaos, scenes tend to be darker (literally and metaphorically), and getting to interesting locations so often involves long, hard slogs uphilll in the dark. I love where I live, but it was time for a break.
Below are some of the images I created on our break. I hope you enjoy them, and I would love to hear any comments or feedback you might have so feel free to leave a comment below or drop me a line from the Contact page. I hope everyone is continuing to stay safe as we approach the light at the end of the tunnel.
